    Twighlight

Aww - I had looked forwards to watching this film all week.  When I was in India I read the first book, and then managed to read the other 3 on the way home / within the next week.  I was gutted when I finished the last one.

Saw the film last night and it missed loads out!  I suppose the medium was different - so it is difficult to get all that feeling and emotion across in a film, but still - I think by missing so much out they lost a lot of the feeling.

The actors were ok - well, I think Bella was a good choice, but most of the rest didn't measure up.  The Cullens were supposed to be remarkably beautiful - not many of them were, really (but I supposed they did dull-down the rest of the characters to get that across).  James wasn't half creepy enough, Victoria wasn't psycho enough and Alice wasn't in it enough full stop!  Edward was really disappointing, since I really did think he looked like the twins off the xfactor.  Oh - and the bit where he carried her through to the clearing (on top of the fact that they messed with that bit loads, and it happened in the wrong place, and other bits didn't happen...) was just ridiculous!

Maybe New Moon will be better, as it is a little darker.  Hope so.  Looking forwards to seeing the volturi.  Maybe I will have forgotten the pictures that were in my own head by the time I see it - film just didn't portray it as well as my head did!

Yeah i read the books after seeing the film so that helped lots. Loved the books immensely. I thought Bella was wrongly cast not Edward and yes, Alice was missing far too much. It's the same with all books though, The Golden Compass was made family friendly, Interview with a vampire was cut to pieces and Queen of the damned (i love the film soooo much but don't see it as an Anne Rice novel at all!).......well! It was the same with the new series Legend of the Seeker, i really liked this but after reading all 11 of the books it was based on one after the other, i found it a little bit annoying that they messed with the time scale, resurrected dead characters and messed with the characters period. If you are like me and get totally lost in a good book then the film version can never replicate those emotions or feelings. Talking about being lost in books, i got totally mesmerised by Anne Rices Queen of the damned (I fell in love with the book version of Lestat! Sad i know!) one day at work and as i pulled in to pick up a goth girl she gave me a big smile and she had vampire teeth, fantasy and reality merged at the moment lol, she said she had a dentist make them a permanent fixture, Cooooool :-)
